This course deals with the introduction and application of selected computer programmes regarding word processing, spreadsheet processing and statistical analysis on an advanced level.
| Integrated course (iL) | Coursecode: 18071107 Business Development and International Marketing 3 SWS 4 ECTS
Students are introduced to the analysis of different strategic positions of a company including its internal and external environment, strategic capabilities and its purpose. They will learn how respective relevant tools are applied in different areas. One important part of this course deals with choosing strategic directions within the contexts of business strategy, corporate strategy, international strategy, innovation strategy, portfolio strategy and market entry strategy. Different respective marketing and sales strategies are presented and discussed as well.
| Integrated course (iL) | Coursecode: 18071105 Compliance, Business Ethics and CSR in Emerging Markets 2 SWS 3 ECTS
This course deals with the basics of compliance, business ethics and corporate social responsibility. Also, the subjects corruption and corporate governance will be taught. Practical examples will help the students to gain a better understanding for incompliant as well as unethical behaviour.

The aim of this course is to understand the most important aspects of global contemporary history regarding Emerging Markets. Based on that, the most crucial problems and challenges of selected Emerging Markets are discused on the basis of their historical development.

The students receive an overview of the concepts of global supply chain management with special focuses on key topics, such as demand management, inventory management, procurement/purchasing. An emphasis is being put on state-of-the-art logistical concepts and methods.

This lecture discusses important legal aspects of international business in Emerging Markets. Moreover institutional aspects of the legal systems of Emerging Markets are conveyed.
| Lecture (Vo) | Coursecode: 18071103 International Trade and Environmental Economics 3 SWS 3 ECTS
This course deals with important topics, theories and technical terms out of international trade theory and international trade policy. Important aspects out of environmental economics will be discussed as well, like the exploitation of natural resources and environmental pollution.
| Integrated course (iL) | Coursecode: 18071101 Introducing Emerging Markets 3 SWS 4 ECTS
The aim of this introductory core course is to provide students with a solid understanding of the most important characteristics of Emerging Markets as well as the opportunities, threats and challenges for multinationals doing business in Emerging Markets and for Emerging Giants. Students will learn about the opportunities, threats and challenges of institutional voids in Emerging Markets and about the challenges coming from the Emerging Markets to the developed economies.
| Tutorial (Ue) | Coursecode: 18071108 Qualitative and Quantitative Research Methods 2 SWS 4 ECTS
Students are provided with advanced knowledge in qualitative and quantitative research methods in the area of social and economic sciences. In this context, students use state-of-the-art computer-based analysis tools. Students learn to elaborate research designs on an advanced level, to carry out research projects and to analyse as well as interpret the results. Additionally, the use of computer-based referencing tools according to international scientific standards will be discussed and practised.

2. Semester

| Tutorial (Ue) | Coursecode: 18071207 Big Data and Advanced Data Analysis 2 SWS 3 ECTS
In this course students focus on advanced statistical analysis by using state-of-the-art statistical software. They learn how to visually present and interpret results. A special emphasis is given to multivariate analysis of big data volumes.
| Integrated course (iL) | Coursecode: 18071201 Business in Emerging Markets 3 SWS 4 ECTS
The course offers a comprehensive look at Emerging Markets from an overall and interdisciplinary business perspective. The students will holistically repeat and deepen their understanding about the facts, opportunities, threats and challenges regarding doing business in Emerging Markets.
| Project thesis (PT) | Coursecode: 18071209 Business Lab 3 SWS 4 ECTS
Based on the theories of project management, strategy development and business plan design, the students will develop a business idea as well as a related strategy and business plan for a startup operating in an emerging market. Social business ideas are prefered. The outcome of this project is then presented to a group of experts and discussed with them.
| Tutorial (Ue) | Coursecode: 18071203 Conflict Resolution and Negotiation 2.5 SWS 2 ECTS
One part of this course focuses on professional communication in English with regard to conflict resolution and negotiation processes. Theoretical concepts with regard to conflict resolution and negotiation are also introduced. Another part of the course is designed to combine the discussed theories within various practical settings. The practical examples, case studies and/or simulations are intended to further develop student's competencies and knowledge of the most important aspects of negotiation and conflict resolution processes in multicultural situations.

Students are introduced to the key concepts of intercultural HR Management, organisation and leadership theory as well as change management. These concepts are also applied within various practical examples.
| Tutorial (Ue) | Coursecode: 18071210 Cross-Cultural Orientation Workshop 0.5 SWS 1 ECTS
This cross-cultural orientation workshop provides a highly practical setting where diversity and various cultural backgrounds are reflected upon, thus contributing to the personal development of students of all nationalities. In this workshop, students share their experiences and improve cross-cultural competences by reflecting on their experience abroad and by delivering professional presentations.
| Project thesis (PT) | Coursecode: 18071208 Research Lab 2 SWS 4 ECTS
In this course students develop their own research project in teams. This comprises of the elaboration of a research design, the necessary data collection, analysis, visualisation and interpretation of the gathered data as well as the writing of a research report based on scientific standards. The results will be basically presented to a group of experts and discussed.
International Finance | Integrated course (iL) | Coursecode: 18071204 Global Financial Environment and Foreign Exchange Exposures 2 SWS 3 ECTS
Within this course, students learn about the basics of the global financial environment as well as the basics of foreign exchange theories and their applications. Based on that, different foreign exchange exposures for companies as well as relevant hedging strategies are discussed.
International Finance | Integrated course (iL) | Coursecode: 18071205 International Corporate Finance and Project Finance 2 SWS 3 ECTS
In this course students learn about the core aspects of project finance, export finance and about special forms of international finance. Key aspects are commercial-, legal-, financial- and risk-related issues as well as their implications and consequences regarding Emerging Markets.
International Finance | Integrated course (iL) | Coursecode: 18071206 Mergers, Acquisitions and Strategic Alliances 2 SWS 3 ECTS
In this course students learn about the motivation, the advantages and disadvantages, the basic concepts of M&A and strategic alliances, the different steps within an M&A-process as well as frequent problems during M&A-processes. Different evaluation methods are also discussed in this context.

3. Semester

4. Semester

| Project thesis (PT) | Coursecode: 18071403 Company Dialogue 2 SWS 2 ECTS
Within this course students closely interact with representatives from companies active in emerging markets and/or developing countries. On the one hand students learn more about these companies and on the other hand students have the possibility to establish business contacts.
| Project thesis (PT) | Coursecode: 18071402 Interdisciplinary Strategic Cases 2 SWS 3 ECTS
Based on various theoretical concepts and skills, students will holistically analyse and evaluate advanced business cases. The goal of this course is to derive strategic recommendations based on findings of previously conducted analyses.
| Master Thesis (MA) | Coursecode: 18071405 Master's Thesis and Master's Exam 0.5 SWS 20 ECTS
Students carry out a research project independently and write their own scientific Master’s Thesis. The thesis is presented to an examination committee, where the findings have to be defended. During this committee examination the students are expected to establish interdisciplinary connections to other relevant issues in the context of Emerging Markets. Additionally, the students are examined regarding general topics related to Emerging Markets.

During this course students present their progress regarding the Master’s Thesis according to scientific standards. They learn how to give and accept constructive feedback and to integrate it into their further research.
| Integrated course (iL) | Coursecode: 18071401 Strategy and Innovation in the Digital Era 2 SWS 3 ECTS
Based on various theoretical concepts and skills, students deepen their understanding about strategy and strategy development processes as well as their implementation and evaluation. During the course, various strategy development and innovation tools will be introduced, discussed, compared and applied. Last but not least, different organisational concepts are discussed and for example applied in the context of case studies.
