Students are provided with advanced knowledge in qualitative and quantitative research methods in the area of social and economic sciences. Additionally, the use of computer-based referencing tools according to international scientific standards will be discussed and practised.

Based on the theories of project management, strategy development and business plan design, the students will develop a business idea as well as a related strategy and business plan for a startup operating in an emerging market. Social business ideas are prefered. The outcome of this project is then presented to a group of experts and discussed with them.

One part of this course focuses on professional communication in English with regard to conflict resolution and negotiation processes. Theoretical concepts with regard to conflict resolution and negotiation are also introduced. Another part of the course is designed to combine the discussed theories within various practical settings. The practical examples, case studies and/or simulations are intended to further develop student's competencies and knowledge of the most important aspects of negotiation and conflict resolution processes in multicultural situations.

Students carry out a research project independently and write their own scientific Master’s Thesis. The thesis is presented to an examination committee, where the findings have to be defended. During this committee examination the students are expected to establish interdisciplinary connections to other relevant issues in the context of Emerging Markets.
