Career paths

Dieticians plan, organise and monitor clinical nutrition therapy in all areas of medicine. This means that a wide range of options is open to them. They can work in many types of institution including:

  • hospitals
  • rehabilitation centres
  • geriatric centres
  • outpatient clinics
  • medical practices
  • pharmacies

Our graduates also find employment in health promotion and disease prevention. The prevention of nutrition-related diseases starts in early childhood with programmes offered at parents’ advice centres, kindergartens and schools. Our graduates also work in spa hotels and corporate health programmes with the aim of providing general and specific information about healthy diets.

Dieticians are also employed in institutional catering, the food sector, the pharmaceutical industry and in research and training.

Further career options become available after completion of a Master’s degree and several years’ professional experience. For example, our graduates can work in the management of health service establishments or as head dieticians in clinics and hospitals.

They can work either as employees or on a self-employed basis.
