Bianca Fuchs-Neuhold

Dr. scient. med. Bianca Fuchs-Neuhold, BSc, MSc, is a Senior Lecturer and public health scientist at FH JOANNEUM – University of Applied Sciences. Since 2013, she has led the interdisciplinary Health Perception Lab (HPL) – Laboratory for Sensory and Health, which she founded as part of a research infrastructure initiative funded by the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG). The laboratory serves as an interdisciplinary platform for applied research in public health, nutrition, sensory science, and health promotion and prevention.

She completed postgraduate training in Nutritional Epidemiology at Imperial College London and in Health Impact Assessment (HIA) at the University of Liverpool. In addition, she gained international teaching experience at Ithuba Skills College in South Africa through a development cooperation project funded by the Austrian Development Cooperation (EZA).

Her teaching and research focus on public health, women's health, health literacy, Health Impact Assessment (HIA), Health in All Policies (HiAP), nutrition, shift work, climate and health, epidemiology, and research methods.

To date, she has secured and led 18 externally funded research and innovation projects, established long-term national and European research collaborations, and published her research in international peer-reviewed journals.

She actively contributes to the strategic development of FH JOANNEUM. She serves as an elected member of the Academic Board, is a member of the Academic and Examination Regulations Board, and serves as Ombudsperson for the university.

Her scientific work has been recognised through several national awards for research excellence, innovation, and research-led teaching, including multiple DIAETAwards, the FILIA Award, and the MTD Innovation Award.
