During the lecture, students will learn about data mining topics (such as clustering, classification, and regression) and will be taught business analytics topics that will subsequently be applied to operational problems.

This course provides an advanced overview of all relevant information on current IT technologies. It is primarily intended as a preparatory course for those students who do not yet feel 100% confident in some or more of the topics covered in this course. This course is intended to provide them with a solid foundation for subsequent high-level courses.

Computer Science1 | Lecture/Practical (IL) | Coursecode: m240472109 Network and web technologies 2 SWS 2 ECTS
This course covers the setup and configuration of networks in a corporate environment. Network devices and components as well as their configuration are covered in the context of concrete use cases. Students will learn the basics of network security and will be able to effectively secure smaller networks after completing the course. During the course, web servers are installed and configured in order to be able to host websites on them independently. The basics of website creation and web design are covered in the lecture part as well as usability, responsiveness and accessibility on the web.

The course offers an introduction to business law and business constitutional law. The topics dealt with focus on IT-relevant issues. The participants should grasp the interaction of civil law and public law and the substantive principles of the Austrian legal system.

This course is designed to help students understand the connections between the core business and internal IT and thus act as bridge builders. Derived from the general corporate governance, the special aspects of IT governance are elaborated. Based on the requirements of IT compliance, different management, reporting and control systems are discussed and the connections to risk management and IT service management are made tangible. In some areas, reference is made to frameworks such as COBIT, ITIL, etc., which are placed in the correct context and dealt with in an overview.

Basic terms and delimitations, legal requirements, standards and quality criteria of the EU specifications for sustainability reporting.
IT-Management 1 | Seminar (SE) | Coursecode: m240472104 Technical-legal aspects of e-Government 2 SWS 4 ECTS
The integrated course Technical and Legal Aspects of eGovernment deals with the legal foundations, effects and technical implementation of eGovernment applications and applications in Austria. In addition, the current eGovernment strategy of the federal government and the EU is examined. The seminar also compares the current implementation status of eGovernment in Austria with other EU countries and looks at possible adjustments.

2. Semester

The course provides an introduction to the most important concepts and methods of ML and AI and discusses them using concrete application examples from business practice. An important focus is placed on topics such as explainability and trustworthiness. Students are expected to research and prepare this content based on their own operational circumstances.

Overview of relevant IT law and business topics such as media, telecommunications, cloud computing, intellectual property rights, contract law esp. requirements for web store and web page, SLA va for SaaS incl. rights and obligations of providers. Union (legal) and national basics (legal basis, goals, principles, obligations, economic impact). The topicality is ensured by specialized guest lectures.

Introduction to the specifics of English legal language and relevant basic English terms in IT law. Through various assignments based on background materials, students deepen their understanding of the international context and requirements of the legal business world. Legal topics covered include corporate law, contract law and data protection.

Overview of current data protection law with focus on the EU General Data Protection Regulation (principles, obligations), processing directory, information obligations, data security, data subject rights, transfer to third countries, etc.

Basics of digital business ideas; digital technologies and practical examples and their analysis; business cases; financing options.

Basics of management systems and processes; high-level structure; basics of quality management and quality management systems; basics of operational information security; requirements and differences of the individual management systems; implementation and maintenance of integrated management systems.
Project and master theses | Seminar (SE) | Coursecode: m240472202 Hybrid Business Models - Project 2 SWS 2 ECTS
In this seminar, students learn to practically implement the theoretical content from the lecture of the same name in the first semester. Based on various use cases, the students have to develop their own projects. Planning, implementation, monetization and target group identification are central topics. The topic of data security and data protection is also dealt with from a technical point of view. The course is constantly adapted to current trends and (technical) developments so that students always have an up-to-date overview.

Students plan and develop the first part of a year-long project, taking into account the focus of the curriculum.

3. Semester

IT-Law 3 | Seminar (SE) | Coursecode: m240472306 Current IT Legal Issues Focus "Data Economy" 2 SWS 3 ECTS
The course deals with current topics around the topic of "data", such as NIS II, Data Act, Data Governance Act, etc. The students are introduced to the rapidly changing legal requirements - mostly from EU law. In the course, students are introduced to the rapidly changing legal requirements - mostly from EU law. The focus is on the area of "data" without reference to persons.

The students receive an overview of modern manifestations of computer crime on the basis of the Austrian Criminal Code, as well as any European norms that have to do with cybercrime in the broader sense. The criminal offences are explained and their context to everyday professional life is established on the basis of practical examples.

Students will gain in-depth insights into labour law, taking into account new developments such as working in "virtual" teams, home offices and shared offices and the related legal issues and challenges. In addition, an insight into the use of IT software and labour law is given in order to give students an understanding of the relationship to privacy - also in connection with working as an employee in a company.

In the course, students are taught the basics of essential IT contracts, using sample documents and IT contracts from everyday company life. The students develop and negotiate ICT contracts.

In-depth examination of the special features of English legal language and further expansion of vocabulary relevant to IT law. Through various assignments based on background materials and including current topics, students deepen transversal competences relevant to their field of work. Among other things, legal topics in the area of contract law, intellectual property law and data protection are dealt with.

4. Semester

IT-Management 3 | Seminar (SE) | Coursecode: m240472402 Ethics & Technology Assessment 2 SWS 2.5 ECTS
The increasing digitalisation of our (private, public, professional) spheres of action as well as the current progress in the field of artificial intelligence underline the importance of a socially desirable design of technologies and their contexts of application. The course offers an introduction to two central approaches to the analysis of technologies, of acting with (digital) technology and of technology-related conflicts and problems: The participants will be introduced to the basics of applied ethics and its development in specific field ethics (e.g. technology ethics, information ethics, business ethics) as well as to the perspectives of technology assessment (TA). In addition to systematic approaches to ethics and TA (and related approaches to "Science, Technology & Society" or "Responsible Research & Innovation"), the topic is developed through the discussion of case studies, group work and the presentation of exemplary studies.

The course induces the students to work independently on their master thesis on the basis of scientific criteria, the topic depends on the project work dealt with in the 2nd and 3rd semesters, so that each student deals with all 3 main subjects of the course (legal, technical and economic) from a current perspective.
