Digital Entrepreneurship – your gateway to the world of digital innovation

The Digital Entrepreneurship degree programme offers a unique education to successfully develop and promote digital start-ups. Open to graduates from all disciplines, the programme is particularly aimed at people with a passion for founding companies, but also for innovation in established companies.

The programme focuses on practical learning, individual coaching and teamwork in multidisciplinary projects. You will not only develop digital business ideas, but also your personal entrepreneurial mindset.

We strengthen skills in areas such as digital business models, data technologies and design thinking – all future skills that are increasingly in demand on the labour market. A particular advantage: you will make valuable contacts with Styrian, national and international players in the start-up ecosystem while you are still studying. Find out more here.

Our graduates are highly versatile: they found and manage scalable start-ups, drive innovation in companies or use their expertise in consulting.

‘The Master’s degree programme in Digital Entrepreneurship is ideal for shaping the next generation of digital leaders. The challenging curriculum and input from renowned experts are an incubator for innovative and scalable business models.’
Dr. Ines Wöckl, Founder and CFO of Flasher

We create an inspiring space in which daring to try something new takes centre stage and teach not only specialist knowledge, but also resilience and personal strength.’

‘An understanding of numbers and finances is essential for all founders. The beauty of it is that what seems complicated is actually quite simple. You just have to get to grips with it.’
Lisa-Marie Fassl, Co-Founder & CEO of Female Founders and Forbes 30under30 Listmaker

Here we deal with market positioning, value proposition and digital marketing. You will calculate the profitability of your business idea with the business case. You will also learn how to develop forms of financing and fundraising strategies and define key performance indicators. The ‘Legal Setup’ course focuses on legal topics such as licensing, tax and social security issues and liability. Creativity and the latest methods are utilised in the development of growth hacking strategies and can be implemented directly in the Startup Hub.

Digital Entrepreneurship at SAP Intrapreneurship Programm

As a future founder or innovator of tomorrow, you will not only learn leadership and change management, but also develop innovation strategies for established companies (corporate entrepreneurship). Successful start-up methods such as Lean Startup, Design Thinking or MVPs are indispensable tools today for companies to reinvent themselves and escape the ‘innovator’s dilemma’. As part of a team, you will develop strategies and framework conditions for successful corporate entrepreneurship and promote cooperation between start-ups and corporates (co-innovation). To deepen these competences, practical projects are implemented with innovation departments of established companies such as AVL List GmbH/Creator’s Expedition, Raiffeisenlandesbank Steiermark/Hummelnest Accelerator, Greiner Innoventures, Paypal, TeleHaase, Pioneers, Next Incubator/Energie Steiermark, LebensGroß, WienEnergie etc.

Digital and Data Technologies, Service Engineering, Tech Labs: Mastering technologies, shaping innovations

In the technical modules, you will acquire in-depth knowledge of state-of-the-art technologies, service engineering and innovative business models. The close integration of theory and practice is directly implemented in the Tech Labs.

Get to know digital technologies that drive innovation and enable new digital or hybrid business models. You will also look at the potential of digital services and the testing of service prototypes. In addition to (IoT) technologies for data generation and storage, web and data technologies are also covered: In order to effectively analyse and forecast data, you will deal with modern methods and applications of data science, including Artificial Intelligence and Big Data. Startup Labs: From the idea to realisation

The Startup Labs are the centrepiece of our degree programme. From semester one to three, you put your theoretical knowledge into practice in projects. Digital business ideas are developed in small, multidisciplinary teams under the guidance of coaches and mentors. From the initial concept to innovations for companies, you will work on the implementation steps. You will conduct market research, review business case assumptions and evaluate the market potential of your idea. By simulating digital business cases, you will draw well-founded conclusions and identify business opportunities. You will receive technical support in the Tech Labs, where you can test digital or hybrid business models.

Another highlight is the creation of a pitch deck for your idea, which is presented to a panel of experts and at external events. The Startup Labs lead to the Master’s thesis, which can include research into your minimum viable product or prototypes – often the first step towards founding a company.

Our Startup Hub provides the right environment, offering you inspiration and support along the way.

Tip

A special training agreement will be concluded to ensure that students retain ownership of the intellectual property rights (IPR) arising from the digital business ideas developed by them.
