How do I apply?

If you meet the course requirements, you can apply for a place on the programme.

Step 1: Gather the required documents.

Letter of application, signed

In the letter, explain precisely why you are interested in this course and why you would be suitable. Discuss what you want in your future career. Describe any experience you already have in the topics covered by the course. Explain a bit about yourself and about your strengths, weaknesses and personality.

CV, signed

List your education together with any additional qualifications you have in chronological order in your CV and include any certificates or documents as proof. Do you already have some professional experience? Completed an internship? Had a holiday job? Been involved in social work? Then include all of these activities. Proof of qualification for university entrance

You must provide documentary evidence that you meet the formal requirements for study. Enclose the following documents with your application

  • secondary school leaving certificate and final school report or
  • proof of qualification for university entrance and/or certificates of additional exams.

If you do not yet have your Austrian documents (certificate of university entrance qualification) at the time of submitting your application, you can submit them by the start of your course. Step 2: Submit your application.

All applicants will receive an FH JOANNEUM account allowing them to apply for a degree programme. If you wish to apply, please register at JOANNEUM | online. Fill in the fields First name, Last name, Date of birth and Email, confirm your entries and submit. You will then receive an automatically generated email with a link to the online application.

Follow the link and log in by creating your personal password. You can use the proposed user name or your email address. First select the course type "Bachelor degree programme" and then choose the degree programme you wish to apply for from the drop-down menu. Finally, please fill in your personal and contact details.

Upload your application documents. The letter of motivation, CV and citizenship certificate or passport copy are mandatory documents which you must submit. Please also upload proof of university entrance qualification and any required language certificates. If you do not yet have your Austrian documents (e.g., secondary school leaving or vocational matriculation certificate) at the time of submitting your application, you can submit them by the start of your course.


Please remember to tick the agreement box and submit your online application by clicking on Send.

After submission you can follow the status of your online application under My Applications in JOANNEUM | online and also upload documents at a later date.


Applicants and students who already have an FH JOANNEUM account can submit a new application under My Applications.


Adhere to the application deadline and ensure that your documents are complete and signed before you send them off. Only then will your application be accepted. The only exception to this rule are the certificates proving qualification for university entrance. These documents can also be submitted by the start of your course.

Step 3: You will receive an invitation to the assessment test.

Your application will be checked by the Study Administration division. You will receive an email to confirm that your documents are complete and that you meet the admission requirements within two weeks of submission.

You will also receive an email containing information on the date and location of the written assessment test two or three weeks after the application deadline at the latest.
