The conferral of the title of FH Professor is a special honor for FH JOANNEUM staff members who have distinguished themselves through their dedication to teaching, research, and knowledge transfer. The title of Honorary Professor (FH) is awarded to external teaching and research figures who have made a significant contribution to the university’s development over many years.
Two new professorships at FH JOANNEUM Bad Gleichenberg, one in Kapfenberg
Daniel Binder, a lecturer at the Institute of Health and Tourism Management at FH JOANNEUM Bad Gleichenberg, gave a presentation titled “Between Pumpkin Seed Oil, Fun on the Slopes, and Views of the Thermal Baths—What Remains When Our Guests Leave” as part of his certification process. Kathrin Hofer-Fischanger, a lecturer also at the Institute of Health and Tourism Management, spoke on the topic “Sick Systems? How Healthy Organizations Succeed.” The laudatory speeches for both were delivered by Institute Director Eva-Maria Adamer-König
The Institute of Industrial Management at FH JOANNEUM in Kapfenberg was also delighted to announce the appointment of a new professor: Jörg Schweiger, Associate Professor, delivered a lecture titled “Procurement 2035: People, Systems, and Resilient Supply Networks.” The laudatory address was given by Martin Tschandl, Head of the Institute of Industrial Management.
Honorary professorship awarded to the Institute of Journalism and Digital Media
Rahel Anne Bailie, an adjunct professor at the Institute of Journalism and Digital Media at FH JOANNEUM in Graz, was awarded the title of honorary professor (FH). In her lecture, “The Village That Raised a Programme: Reflections on an Accidental Alliance,” she reflected on the emergence and development of academic programs in an international context.The laudatory speeches were delivered by Martina König, Vice Rector (FH) and interim director of the institute, and Heinz Wittenbrink, founder and long-time director of the Master’s program in Content Strategy.
During the event, which took place on June 10, 2026, at FH JOANNEUM in Graz, certificates for Continuing Education in Higher Education Pedagogy (HDW) were also awarded. In doing so, FH JOANNEUM recognizes the ongoing commitment of its faculty to the development of pedagogical skills and the high quality of teaching. The opening remarks were delivered by Birgit Phillips, Head of the Learning, Innovation and Technology (LIT) Department. Judy Gore, a lecturer at the Institute of Health Care and Nursing, and Robert Gutounig, a professor of applied media studies at the Institute of Journalism and Digital Media, were delighted to receive the award.
Another highlight of the program was the presentation of the Teaching Awards and the Teaching Awards Plus 2025. These awards recognize innovative teaching approaches and exceptional dedication to teaching: Nine recipients were honored and featured on a “Wall of Fame.” Read more about the award recipients here.
