My Studies

To graduate from your degree programme, you must:

  • successfully complete all the classes
  • produce a Master's thesis which must receive a pass mark
  • pass the Master's examination

Your title on graduation will be “Diplomingenieurin / Diplomingenieur (DI)"

Master’s thesis

The Master’s thesis is produced in the fourth semester and can be written in either German or English. Our students have the opportunity to work together with companies. The topics are suggested by the students and presented, discussed and approved in the faculty. The Academic Writing and Speaking class in the third semester prepares students for writing this piece of academic work.

Master's examination

The final board examination is made up of the following elements:

  • presentation of the degree thesis
  • defence of the degree thesis
  • examination subject 1
  • examination subject 2

The first examination subject is the main exam subject and is closely linked with the topic of the Master’s thesis. The second exam subject can be selected to supplement or complement the first one. Students are required to deliver their presentation on their Master’s thesis in English. The subsequent examinations are held in German unless the student applies to be examined in English when submitting their particular exam subjects.
