Admission requirements

If you want to apply for this Master’s degree programme you need to have

  • a relevant Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or
  • a degree comparable or equivalent to a bachelor in Architecture.

Applicants must provide evidence of proficiency in German at level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

Detail on the admission requirements

Compliance with the admission requirements is verified by FH JOANNEUM’s governing body responsible for study matters.

The decision will be based on evidence that the applicant has acquired the knowledge, skills and competences in the eleven criteria of Article 46 (2) of Directive 2005/36/EC of the European Parliament and the Council of 7 September 2005 as amended by Directive 2013/55/EU of 20 November 2013 in the previous Bachelor’s degree programme in Architecture.

Both the content of the successfully completed Bachelor’s degree programme in Construction Design and Economics – Architecture or other Bachelor’s course in Architecture and the FH JOANNEUM Master’s degree programme in Architecture must meet the requirements for training as an architect specified in the above Directive.

Tip:

Please enclose detailed documentary evidence of the courses you have completed (course description, curricula, module description etc.) with your application to enable us to examine the comparability and equivalence of your degree based on the eleven criteria mentioned above.

If the applicant’s previous qualifications and the contents of the Master’s degree programme do not fully meet the criteria of the above Directive a number of additional exams must be taken before the start of the third semester.

The degree must be from a recognised institution of post-secondary education in Austria or abroad.

In ambiguous cases, the head of degree programme will decide whether the candidate meets the admission requirements. You will be notified of the decision once we have received your full set of application documents.
