Semester abroad
Production Technology and Organisation is the most hands-on engineering degree programme offered at FH JOANNEUM. Students are free to spend part of their internship at a foreign branch or subsidiary in agreement with their training company.
Students also have the option to study abroad: the CAN-EU COOP programme is an exchange programme between engineering students from Europe and Canada in close collaboration with industry. This programme offers our students the opportunity to spend a semester (from September to December) at a Canadian partner university. In exchange Canadian students can gain practical experience working in an Austrian company for 15 weeks as part of a paid internship.
Benefits
Our students save on high course fees at attractive universities. The companies which have offered internships to date have also valued the opportunity for intercultural exchange and the ‘intensive language training’ for the staff members supervising the internship.
How does it work?
There’s an opportunity to spend a semester abroad in the fifth semester. Students interested in studying abroad may study at a Canadian partner university by arranging an internship for an incoming student at his or her company.
Students may apply to the head of degree programme for a scholarship of around 750 euros. To successfully complete the fifth and sixth semesters students need to obtain 30 ECTS from the foreign university. In addition they must complete their first and second Bachelor's theses.
