To graduate from the degree programme, you must:

• successfully complete all the classes and the internship
• write a Master’s thesis, which must be approved
• pass the Master’s examination

Your title on graduation will be “Master of Science (MSc)”

By means of the Master’s theses our students show that they can solve challenging problems in a structured way using scientific methods. The topics are suggested by the students and mostly elaborated in collaboration with a company. The thesis is written in English.

Students first limit the size and content of the problem so that it can be addressed within the given time frame. The thesis itself comprises a description of the chosen approach and provides references to previous research work. It lists the results obtained and subjects them to critical scrutiny.

The Master’s examination is held in English. The examination board is composed of three persons from the Institute. It usually includes the supervisor of the Master’s thesis and two examiners – of the main and complementary subject, respectively.

The Master’s examination consists of the following three parts:

• Presentation and defence of the Master’s thesis
• Questions on the main examination subject
• Questions on the complementary or supplementary examination subject
