Semester abroad
Our students have the opportunity of spending a semester in another European country or further afield. A semester abroad offers valuable experience for their future career and extends their specialist knowledge and qualifications and also improves their language skills.
One of the pre-conditions is a good average grade and another is adequate language skills, for which some partner institutions will require a language certificate.
Our students stay in regular contact with teaching staff, the International Coordinator of the course and the FH JOANNEUM International Office throughout their time abroad in case any subject-related or administrative questions arise. The contact persons designated at the individual host universities are also available to provide support.
How does it work?
Students on the Construction Design and Economics course can spend either the fourth or fifth semester abroad. Our students are given detailed information beforehand about the pre-conditions for a semester abroad, how to apply and how it works.
As the curriculum in partner universities usually covers only part of the Construction Design and Economics course, a precise plan of the course of study, in the form of a Learning Agreement, must be submitted before the semester abroad. The head of degree programme will decide whether or not individual courses must be repeated at FH JOANNEUM.
Partner universities
The partner universities involved in the Construction Design and Economics degree course all have a similar programme to ours in the subject areas of architecture and engineering. Our students are adequately equipped linguistically to cope with their time abroad, particularly in the UK and in other English-speaking countries including the United States.
