My Studies

Requirements

To graduate from the degree programme in Construction Design and Economics, you must:

  • successfully complete all the classes
  • successfully complete the internship
  • produce a Bachelor’s thesis which must receive a pass mark
  • pass the Bachelor’s examination

Your title on graduation will be “Bachelor of Science in Engineering (BSc)”.

Bachelor’s thesis

As part of the Bachelor’s course, students are required to complete a written piece of work based on topics they have studied. This is an important element of the degree programme. The thesis show that, with support from teaching staff, our students are capable of processing a problem from their field of study in a scientific way and then presenting the results appropriately.

Topics are tailored to course content and include the whole field of structural engineering and architecture.

Bachelor’s examination

At the end of the sixth semester, and following successful completion of all the courses in the degree programme and the internship, the student takes the Bachelor’s examination in front of an examination board made up of subject experts.

The examination has two parts:

  • presentation of the Bachelor’s thesis
  • oral examination on the interconnections of the topics covered by the Bachelor’s thesis to the relevant subject areas of the curriculum

After graduation

Our graduates can extend their knowledge by taking a Master's course at FH JOANNEUM in Construction Management and Engineering or Architecture. There is also the possibility of further specialist study at another university or university of applied sciences either in Austria or abroad. Alternatively, our graduates can step straight into the world of work.
