Semester abroad

Our students can spend their fifth or sixth semester abroad, studying at a partner university or completing an internship.

By then, students will have acquired the expertise and practical skills they need to follow classes and work with patients in a different culture and a different language.

Our students are able to broaden their horizons with a stay abroad and learn about other perspectives and cultures. The FH JOANNEUM International Relations department will support you in planning your semester abroad and contacting partner universities.

How does it work?

Our students can complete a semester abroad during the last year of their course. Internships abroad can also be completed earlier in the course.

To ensure thorough planning, our students decide whether to undertake a semester abroad and submit their application during the course of their second year. The head of degree programme then makes the selection.

Erasmus funding is available for students wishing to study at one of our European partner universities. Students must complete 30 ECTS per semester abroad, with internships accounting for a certain number of these credits and classes for the rest.
