Vitaliy Mezhuyev erhielt 1997 einen Abschluss in Informatik an der Staatlichen Pädagogischen Universität Berdjansk (BSPU), Ukraine. 2002 promovierte er an der Nationalen Pädagogischen Universität Kiew im Fach Pädagogik und 2012 habilitierte er in Informationstechnologie an der Nationalen Technischen Universität Odessa (ONTU), Ukraine. Von 2004 bis 2014 war er Leiter der Abteilung für Informatik und Softwaretechnik an der BSPU in der Ukraine. Von 2014 bis 2019 war er Professor an der Fakultät für Computersysteme und Softwaretechnik der Universität Malaysia Pahang sowie Leiter der Forschungsgruppe Softwaretechnik. Seit August 2019 ist er Professor am Institut für Industrie Wirtschaft der FH JOANNEUM in Kapfenberg, Österreich. Im Laufe seiner Karriere nahm Vitaliy Mezhuyev an zahlreichen internationalen wissenschaftlichen und industriellen Projekten teil, die sich mit der formalen Modellierung, dem Design und der Entwicklung fortschrittlicher Softwaresysteme als netzzentriertem Echtzeitbetriebssystem befassten. IDEs zur Automatisierung der Entwicklung paralleler Echtzeitanwendungen; Tools zur Spezifikation, Überprüfung und Validierung von Softwareprodukten; visuelle Umgebung für die Modellierung von Metamaterialien und andere. Seine aktuellen Forschungsinteressen umfassen Formale Methoden, Metamodellierung, Entwicklung von Informationssystemen, Sicherheitsmodellierung und Verifikation von Softwaresystemen, IoT und den Entwurf von Cyber-Physikalischen Systemen.
