Daniel Binder, born in 1981 in Feldbach, Austria received his Master’s Degree at the FH JOANNEUM University of Applied Sciences in 2007. He studied at the degree program “Health Management in Tourism”. During his studies he focused on marketing and tourism related fields. Also during his studies he became management assistant at the institute of Health and Tourism Management. He was responsible for marketing and communication issues.
After passing his degree with distinction he became Scientific Assistant and he was also responsible for internships at the institute. Daniel was involved in research projects and was responsible for event organization and marketing. In 2008 he was the leading event manager of the Congress of Health and Medicine Sociology in Bad Gleichenberg. In his function as Research and Development Manager he raised about 450.000 EUR from international and national research funds and industry clients. After leading two ERASMUS projects (ILIS and WelDest, both focusing on education in spa and wellness industries) he started to set up the worldwide first MBA program for Spa and Hospitality Management which started in 2015 with a first cohort of 8 students.
Daniel is currently leading this MBA program and is responsible for marketing, hiring and managing external lecturers, doing interviews with applicants and he is in charge of a budget of about 100.000 EUR per year. Daniel is also the chairman of GMTalumni, the alumni club for graduates of Health Management in Tourism. Since 2014 he is running a small marketing agency, dealing with clients in tourism and service industries.
In terms of gaining more professional tourism related experience Daniel also started to work at the Birds of Prey Area at Riegersburg, Austria as a marketing manager. He is currently working for 20 hours per week at the castle Riegersburg and 20 hours per week at the FH JOANNEUM.
