Basics of Digital Media Technologies 1
Integrated course, 5.00 ECTS
Fundamental knowledge of digital technologies, internet technologies, data compression, image processing, design with pixel-based and vector-based software, typeface and layout, animation techniques and image processing.
In the hands-on sessions, the basics of multimedia design (Text, Images, Videos, etc.) will be learned in practical examples.
Students can name the most important standards of IT and digital media. They can interpret the relevant standards and describe the basics of copyright. They can enumerate the most important data compression methods, explain how they work, and compare the results. Students will be able to explain how pixel and vector-oriented programs and animation programs work, and to evaluate the pros and cons of different techniques. They are able to create simple products (images and animations) using the basic techniques of these programs. They can describe the basic terms of image composition and editing.
