German Language Competence Course
Admissions
You can apply for the Certificate Programme indicating the course you wish to study at FH JOANNEUM which require a German language level of B2 for admission.

Application documents
Documents required for Bachelor’s degree programmes:
- signed letter of application / letter of motivation
- signed CV
- evidence of university entrance qualification (general or examination certificate) – with the exception of B2 German language certificate
- German language certificate (B1 or higher)
- English language certificate (B2 or higher) for degree programmes taught in German and English
- copy of citizenship certificate or passport
Documents required for Master’s degree programmes:
- signed letter of application / letter of motivation
- signed CV
- Evidence of completion of a relevant Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- Transcript of Records for examining the admission requirements
- evidence of university entrance qualification (general or examination certificate) – with the exception of B2 German language certificate
- German language certificate (B1 or higher)
- English language certificate (B2 or higher) for degree programmes taught in German and English
- copy of citizenship certificate or passport

Special regulations apply to documents that have not been issued in Austria. Your documents must fulfil these regulations to be accepted. Different provisions may apply depending on your country of origin: see the Translation and Authentication Guidelines by country. Copies of all authenticated and translated documents must be submitted together with the application. Please also send us copies of all certificates and documents required to verify compliance with the admission requirements in the original language.

We will review the documents and examine whether the applicants meet the admission requirements both for the chosen degree programme and the Certificate Programme (German language level B1). Applicants will then be notified that they meet the admission requirements for the chosen degree programme, with the exception of the language requirements (German at level B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).
Personal interview
After the review, applicants will be invited to a 20-minute online admission interview to assess their suitability and qualifications. The interview will be conducted in German.
If the number of applicants exceeds the number of places available on the course, applicants will be ranked according to the following criteria:
- Application documents / personal motivation: 25%
- Assessment / admission interview: 50%
- Points achieved in the German language proficiency test at level B1: 25%
